Dharwad: Drunkards gathered in front of deputy commissioner's office in Dharwad and started staging a protest against closing of liquor shop. They were heard shouting, "We want liquor shops." While submitting the memorandum to the deputy commissioner (DC), they said that they have to spend Rs 40 per day extra to travel to Dharwad to drink. They were incurring loss because of this and the bar in the village was convenient for them. The protest was staged by them following a memorandum submitted by the residents of Hebballi village, who had requested the DC to close the bar because drunkards were creating nuisance in the village.
