Mandya: The Congress members laid siege to tahsildar Nagesh inside his office at Srirangapatna. They accused him of stopping a Congressman from becoming the president of the Naguvanahalli Milk Producers’ Union. They also alleged that the JD(S) MLA Ravindra Srikanthaiah had instigated the tahsildar to stay the proceedings of the election. The Congress MLA Bandisiddegowda and his supporters had heated arguments with JD(S) counterparts. It is alleged that the Congress member Govindaraj was to be elected as the president of the association according to the reservation law, but the JD(S) had alleged that he had submitted a fake certificate. Immediately, tahsildar brought a stay on the appointment process. Following the siege, the subdivision officer promised to lift the stay, after which the Congress freed the tahsildar.
