Jul 28, 2018, 10:23 AM IST

DGP SP Vaid on June 20 announced the decision of Jammu Kashmir Police to equip its field staff with high tech cameras. He said it is a big move to bring more transparency to the system.

Vaid also said, ''Let's say a traffic cop is challaning somebody, allegations come that so and so was drunk and he abused me or took money from me, the camera will record, it will not tell lies. Similarly, during law and order (problems), policemen have to confront hostile crowd. In the camera, you will see who is doing right or wrong, so it is like using technology to know the truth”.

On Friday, for the first time ever the Jawans were seen equipped with hi-tech cameras in the valley. It is pertinent to mention here that CRPF in Kashmir has been using body cameras since last year.
