Jallikattu event goes awry, crowd pelts stones at cops

Hosur: Clashes between the police and the public took place at a Jallikattu event in Madugondapalli near Hosur, leaving several policemen injured. The public pelted stones at policemen and firemen before torching their vehicles.

The village of Madugondapalli had conducted a Jallikattu event for a festival where the police tried to control the crowd and end the event claiming there was no permission. An angry mob charged at the police and pelted stones. Several people were injured in the incident. The police had to resort to lathi charge to bring the situation under control.

Police have now taken 25 people into custody for interrogation. More than 100 cops have been currently deployed in Madugondapalli to ensure no untoward incident takes place.
