India-China talks continue: Prime Minister Modi to meet premier Xi in Argentina

Synopsis

This is the fourth meeting between the two leaders in the recent past, which indicates a constant improvement in the bilateral ties between the countries

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Argentina in November, China’s ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui said on Monday at the inauguration of the first joint India-China training programme for Afghan diplomats.

Argentina will host the G20 Summit in Buenos Aires. It will be the fourth meeting between the two leaders this year. Modi and Xi have met twice after Wuhan this year. The meetings took place at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in June in Qingdao, China, and the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa in July.

The programme of training Afghan diplomats was the first joint project agreed upon by both New Delhi and Beijing during an informal meeting between Modi and Xi in April at China’s Wuhan city.

Ambassador Luo said China’s state counsellor and Foreign Minister would visit India in December to launch the first India-China high-level people-to-people exchange mechanism.
