After 15 months of rigorous training, India’s first all-woman Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was inducted by the Delhi police. They will be deployed at Red Fort when Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivers his Independence Day speech on August 15. The 36-member team will be at strategic locations including the Red Fort and India Gate to secure Independence Day celebrations in Delhi. All the members of the team are from the Northeastern States. Their training included basic, commando and advanced honing of skills under the tutelage of NSG trainers. In a scintillating display of tactics, mental and physical strength and professional caliber, the commandos carried out demonstrations of their building and bus intervention capabilities.
