New Delhi/Shimla: Heavy rainfall, landslides and flash floods have wreaked havoc in all major districts of Himachal Pradesh. The water level in the Beas river has crossed the danger level in the past 24 hours, especially in Mandi and Hamirpur districts.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has gone on the overdrive to rescue people stranded at various locations of the Himalayan state.

At 7am on Monday, information was received from the local administration that two youths were stranded in an area, near Jhiri village south of Kullu town, cut off from the mainland by flash floods in Beas river.

The NDRF team swung into action and by 8.30am were able to winch the stranded youths up. The youths were brought to the Bhuntar airfield amid inclement weather, marked by light rain and low clouds. All necessary precautions were taken in the operation.
