Haryana Roadways strike enters fourth day; policemen drive school buses

The Haryana Roadways employees have extended their strike till October 22 against the state government's decision to introduce 700 private buses, even as the stir entered fourth day causing inconvenience to commuters.

In a first, Haryana police personnel have taken up the responsibilities of plying buses during the strike, as bus conductors and drivers. Policemen in uniform have also been driving the roadways buses for the past two days. The authorities hired buses from educational institutions and pressed these into service on several short distance routes throughout the state.
