Gul Panag lashes out at Congress, calls Kamal Nath’s appointment as Madhya Pradesh CM ‘terrible’

New Delhi: The clamour for Kamal Nath’s resignation is growing with each passing day. Even as Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Bagga ended his four-day long hunger strike against Nath’s appointment as Madhya Pradesh chief minister, now movie star turned AAP leader Gul Panag calls his appointment ‘terrible’. 

In a tweet, she has said, “Terrible to see a tainted man (Kamal Nath) made CM (of Madhya Pradesh).

This is not the first time she fired a salvo against Congress leaders accused in the 1984 Sikh genocide. Soon after the conviction of Sajjan Kumar by the Delhi high court, she went on to tweet, “The mob and your (Sajjan Kumar’s) friends led didn’t even give time for people to flee for their lives! Epitome of shameless you are Sajjan Kumar!”

She is not the only celebrity who voiced her opinion against this appointment that is widely seen as a self-goal by the Congress. Even film star-turned-politician Roopa Ganguly, who visited Bagga while he was on hunger strike, said “Making Kamal Nath the Madhya Pradesh CM was shocking”.

Nath’s alleged role in inciting and leading mobs against Sikhs has been well documented. It is alleged that he led a mob of around 400 men outside Rakabganj Gurdwara on the night of November 1, 1984. The mob created mayhem and lynched two Sikh men to death. The incident has been confirmed by a journalist of the Indian Express, Sanjay Suri, who deposed in front of the Nanavati Commission. In spite of that, he has escaped the law so far.
