Thoothukudi: Ahead of 2019 general elections, while the 'Modi wave' continues to engulf the country, if one wonders about the prevalence of it in Tamil Nadu, one must be ready to be surprised. The world's first Modi-themed cafe is located in Kovilpatti, which is a municipality in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district.

Rodi Cafe was started by a couple, Dinesh Rodi and Sowmya Sarathy, in the year 2017. The interior of the cafe was recently re-painted with the Prime Minister's face along with the schemes introduced by his government in the last five years to fit the theme.

Dinesh said that his wife Sowmya had been moved by PM Modi's women-centric schemes like Ujwala, which then inspired her to Modi-fy the cafe. Hashtags of Awas Yojana, Mudra, Surgical Strike and Make in India are painted across purple walls to highlight the people-oriented initiatives taken up by the Prime Minister. The menu of the cafe too doesn't steer away from the theme, "Our extra large milkshake is known as Demonetisation," said an excited Dinesh.

The cafe has gained attention on social media and especially on Twitter. The couple stated that the organisation that tracks PM Modi's brand engagement has also reached out to them. This is not all, the NaMo app that sells Brand Modi merchandise has also contacted the couple for selling some of them in the cafe.
