Flood in Cauvery river: Trichy Kollidam bridge collapses, Srirangam island completely cut off

The havoc caused by heavy rain and flood in Cauvery river led to the collapse of the 20th pillar of the Trichy Kollidam old steel bridge, cutting the region off from other areas completely. The bridge developed a crack due to heavy rain on August 16. First, the 18th pillar of the bridge collapsed and today, with the collapse of another pillar, the bridge of the British era (1928) has left the people of Srirangam island in Tamil Nadu completely cut off from the mainland.
