Jan 17, 2019, 7:07 PM IST

Bankura: A group of 35-40 elephants created panic among the farmers of Bankura on Thursday. This group of elephants, which came from the West Midnapore district, are presently camping in the Sonamukhi area. Local residents and farmers are panic-stricken, suspecting that these elephants may destroy their potato crop.

Taking a lesson from the previous incidents, farmers of the area have appealed to the forest officials to keep a close watch on the movement of elephants and restrict them from venturing into the farmlands.

The elephants were captured in the camera crossing the busy streets. The 'hulla party', specialised in leading the elephants in jungle s, are following the group of elephants.
