Did media lie about Modi govt's Saubhagya rural electricity scheme? Here is what UP villagers say

PM Narendra Modi recently held an interaction with villagers from across India who had got electricity in their households through the popular Saubhagya rural electrification scheme. But a section of the media sent reporters to Sitapur village in UP and spoke to five or six seemingly disgruntled villagers, trying to prove that they were being forced to take electricity for their premises and were getting inflated bills.

A central team was sent to the village soon after. They found that the so-called inflated bills were because of arrears building up for many years under an old scheme, some up to ten years. One case of overbilling, which went up to Rs 1 lakh, had been rectified even before the TV show was shot.
In fact, authorities had gone to the village and addressed every single one of the cases before the show rubbishing the rural electrification drive was even shot.
So, how can we trust our loud, agenda-driven television news shows?
