The Haj Bhavan in Bengaluru is facing opposition in being renamed after Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan. The Hindu community is against it. The property is owned by the Muslim community and they have given a requisition to the Karnataka government for renaming the Haj Bhavan after Tipu. According to some, who are opposing the move, Tipu was not a freedom fighter and ordered the killings of several Hindus. And they argued that Haj is for all Muslims and not restricted to Tipu fans alone. The Muslim community said Tipu was a great warrior and king. The Hindu community is worried that if the name is changed there will be religious clashes.
