Jaipur/New Delhi: Addressing a small crowd during a public meeting organised as a part of the Congress's election campaign in Rajasthan, senior party leader and former Union minister CP Joshi named Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hindutva's firebrand woman leader Uma Bharti, mentioned their OBC identity and questioned why non-Brahmins dared to represent the religion of Hindus under the current government.

MyNation accessed this Newsroom Post video. In it, Joshi is heard saying, "Uma Bharti ki kya jaat hai, maaloom hai kisi ko? Ritambhara ji ki kya jaat hai, maaloom hai kya? [Does anyone here know what caste Uma Bharti belongs to? Do you know the caste of (Sadhvi) Ritambhara?]

Joshi continues, "Arrey, is desh men dharm ke baare men koi jaanta hai to pandit jaante hain. [In this country, if anybody knows about religion (Hinduism), it's the Brahmins.]

Then Joshi mentions Bharti's Lodh (Rajput) caste, says that Ritambhara and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are non-Brahmins too, and "yet they dare to speak on dharm (implying Hinduism in the given context)."
