Burglary at IAS officer’s house: 5-member Colombian gang arrested in Bengaluru

Bengaluru police arrested five foreign burglars and recovered items worth Rs 80 lakh. They have been identified as Jose Edwards, Gustavo, Yver Alberts, Edward Alexis and Kimberly, all from Colombia. They arrived in Nepal on tourist visas on May 20 and from there came to Bengaluru.

According to police, these burglars used wireless communication and gas cutter to break open doors and lockers. The burglars entered former Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee's house on 20 July and looted items worth Rs 25.

Based on the evidence gathered from CCTV footage and information from neighbouring police station, Jayanagar police arrested the culprits last night (16 July). During investigation, police found out that this Colombian gang was involved in robbery in five more houses in Bengaluru in the last three months.
