In an innovative concept by a radio channel in Bengaluru, a man dressed in Lord Ganesha's attire was seen gifting helmets to people riding without a protective headgear in Bengaluru.

This initiative was started by Red FM. Between September 10 and September 15, a man dressed as Lord Ganesha was seen giving helmets to people riding their two-wheelers without a protective headgear at Anil Kumble Circle, MG Road junction and Koramangala's Sony World signal among other places in the city. Bharatanatyam dancers wore helmets and performed at the Sony World signal to get the message across of road safety.

Dheeraj from Red FM told MyNation, "The traffic police department was very helpful in this endeavour. Although our members dressed up as Ganesha as well as Ravana and gave free helmets, several riders refused to wear them. And hence, we had traffic cops who were present to ensure that these people did wear helmets."

Dheeraj said that there was a bigger reason for dressing someone up as Lord Ganesha.

"The message was that Ganesha was lucky to have received a second head. But we are not. And hence people must keep themselves safe and wear a helmet,' said Dheeraj.
