Attukal Pongala: Temple inspectors attacked in Kerala, three union leaders taken into custody

Thiruvananthapuram: Union leaders attacked the Attukal Pongala squad (auditors) who came to inspect the Attukal temple ahead of the festival, Attukal Pongala. Three officials from civil supplies, legal metrology and food safety department were attacked. They have been admitted to the general hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

The officials who visited the temple were legal metrology inspector Shajahan, inspecting assistant Abdul Gafar Khan and Muneer.

Three union leaders have been taken into custody regarding the assault. Some workers staged a protest in front of the police station demanding the release of leaders taken into custody. The incident occurred on Monday morning at 11am. It is reported that the group attacked the squad when the legal metrology department seized a weighing balance which was not sealed.
