Vajpayee's death sinks nation in grief; Modi to Mamata express condolence on Twitter

Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away on Thursday at AIIMS, New Delhi. Ministers and celebrities took to Twitter to express their condolences

New Delhi: Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away at 5.05 pm on Thursday at New Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Vajpayee was admitted at AIIMS on June 11 with urinary tract infection. He was stable for the past nine weeks under the care of a team of doctors at AIIMS. He was reported to be critically ill and was on life support over the past 36 hours and there was no improvement in his health.

Ministers from all over the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid several visits to AIIMS, enquiring about the Vajpayee’s health.
