Ailing man in Sonowal's Majuli with no road fails to survive 10 km of boat journey

Majuli, Assam: In what can be termed as death due to lack of infrastructure, a patient died in a boat in Majuli, Assam, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal's constituency, due to the lack of road connectivity. The incident happened on Friday.

The victim has been identified as Shashidhar Payeng, a retired teacher who suffered a cardiac arrest. Family members were ferrying him on a country-made boat to Garmur hospital in Majuli by rowing for 10 km. The man could not survive the km journey on River Subansiri.
