Aluva robbery: 798 gram gold, Rs 75,000 stolen from Kerala doctor’s house

Kochi: A gang of masked thieves stole 798 gram of gold and Rs 75,000 from Kerala doctor’s house. The doctor, Grace Mathew, was threatened at knifepoint at her home on Sunday.

Grace was alone in her two-storeyed house where she has lived for the last 15 years.  She is a gynaecologist at a primary health centre in Chamanganad.   In order to attend a relative’s wedding, Grace took the ornaments from her bank locker two months ago. The police suspect that the robbery must have been carried out by someone who knew about this.

The police have collected footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The police along with the forensic department and canine squad have begun investigation under the leadership of district police chief Rahul R Nair and Aluva deputy SP NR Jayaraj.
