Sumit Singh from Rourkela creates Guinness World Record by jogging for 12 hours on treadmill

Sumit Singh set a Guinness World Record by running on a treadmill for twelve hours. The extreme runner accomplished this accomplishment on March 12 by running on the treadmill from 8.15 a.m. to 8.20 p.m.

A 34-year-old ultrarunner has set a Guinness World Record for running the farthest distance on a manual treadmill in 12 hours. Sumit Kumar Singh, the son of Sanjay Singh and Meera Devi, lives in Basanti Colony. He is married and has a 2-year-old son. 

Sumit aimed to run on the treadmill for 12 hours without touching it, covering a minimum distance of 65 kilometers. 

Sumit also has a few other records under his name. He completed 33 full marathons at Uditnagar Stadium from April 25 to May 24, 2023, covering 1392.6 kilometers.
The International Book of Records has acknowledged him as the world record holder for the most full marathons completed in one month.

A video of his run from 8:15 a.m. to 8:20 p.m. on March 12 at Basanti Pathagar was submitted to the Guinness World Records website. During the effort to break the record, the machine covered 68.04 kilometers.

Guinness verified Sumit's footage and granted him a certificate, which he received on Tuesday evening.

Sumit has qualified to represent India in the COMRADES event in South Africa. His goal is to run 86 kilometers in 12 hours. The race will take held in June 2024.

Sumit Singh was heard stating that, he is overjoyed after setting a Guinness world record. 

His main goal is to raise awareness about fitness and mental health issues among individuals over 30 years old. This age group struggles to maintain a healthy lifestyle. His goal is also to represent India at the 24 Hours World Championship.
