Swamy has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that the construction of a grand Ram temple at Ayodhya be commented at the earliest.
Just days after the BJP swept the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, senior leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday reignited the Ram temple issue.
Swamy has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that the construction of a grand Ram temple at Ayodhya be commented at the earliest.
Apart from this, Swamy also demanded that Ram Setu be recognized as a national heritage. He mentioned the notice sent by the Madras High Court to the Central Government, in which, the court had questioned the government not to declare Ram Setu as a national heritage. Meanwhile, Swamy has also questioned whether the cabinet has approved the proposal on Ram Setu by the Ministry of Culture, though the ministry has not approved it yet.
Swamy also took to Twitter to inform people about his letter. He also expressed his views about the legal rang les playing the Ram Janambhoomi issue. He has requested PM Modi to allocate land in Atishay for the temple.
In a letter to PM I have informed that that his legal advice that Govt needs SC permission is erroneous. Narasimha Rao Govt had nationalised the land and under Article 300A the SC cannot question only compensation. Hence there is no bar for Govt to start building right away.

In his letter to Modi, Swamy said the legal advice of the government does not require the approval of the Supreme Court to allocate land for constructing the temple. Also, he mentioned, in 1993 the then prime minister, Narasimha Rao, had already acquired the land and the Supreme Court cannot raise the question under section 300A. SC can only decide the compensation. Swamy also said in his letter that there is no hindrance to start the construction of the temple immediately.
