With the government allowing farming and agricultural practices to go on, the Modi government hopes to revive a sagging economy
Bengaluru: The Prime Minister’s decision to impose a lockdown in the first place and then extend it by another 19 days speaks elaboratively about his steely resolve to keep his countrymen safe and sound.

The decision is by no means an easy one. He is risking economy, employment and growth. But deep in his heart, he knows that the only way to protect the country is through a lockdown.

And he does have a plan to extricate the country out of the economic mess.

Here’s how:

The government will allow industries in rural areas, farmers and manufacturers of information technology hardware to function after April 20.

As released by the Union home ministry, the guidelines allow movement of cargos and goods, but forbids passenger movements. The ministry has also allowed farming, agricultural practices to continue, as also animal husbandry and fishing.

Times of India quoted Anubhuti Sahay, head of South Asia Economic Research at Standard Chartered Bank, as saying: “With the government allowing some economic activity to restart, especially in labor-intensive sectors, there’s a likelihood that the economic hit may not be as bad.”

Times are indeed tough. People are indeed going through a tough phase. Construction work has stopped. Migrants have no work. At the same time, the opposition parties like the Congress orchestrate congregations to stymie and scuttle the nation’s recuperation.

Maybe, Modi seems undaunted by the magnitude of the virus spread. But when the enemy is within, he certainly finds it hard to fight the demon.

The website added that India is losing out on Rs 40,000 crore per day and the total loss is pegged at Rs 8 lakh crore in the last 21 days.

At the same time, 4 crore workers are losing their jobs.

The PM will take a call on further relaxing the lockdown on April 20.
