Kolkata: Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar said Indian fans will enjoy every moment of the historic day/night Test in Kolkata as he arrived in “City of Joy” to witness the pink ball contest at the Eden Gardens.

India and Bangladesh are playing their first-ever day/night Test in Kolkata from today (November 22). Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque won the toss and elected to bat first.

Several former cricketers including Tendulkar are at the ground to witness the historic occasion. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee too is in attendance at the Eden Gardens.

“I am really really excited to come here to Kolkata. I know that this is the new leaf in the Indian cricket's history because this is the first day-night Test match. Great effort by Sourav and the rest of the team at the BCCI,” Tendulkar told reporters after arriving at the Kolkata airport.

“I think without a great team effort this would be not have been possible. This is something which is completely new to our Indian audience. I'm sure that they are going to enjoy every moment,” he added.

Tendulkar praised Kolkata for making the Test a special one. “Kolkata is known for that to make these types of event grand and special. I'm looking forward to it today, let's go out and enjoy the game,” Tendulkar said.

After the toss, Tendulkar greeted both team’s players along with other dignitaries including BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. The tickets for the opening four days are sold out, according to Ganguly.
