Clownfish to Butterfly: 7 Animals that can change their gender

Clownfish live in groups with the largest female being responsible for reproduction. They are born with one sex however change to other gender when required. 

Sea bass are spread across the USA. They are protogynous hermaphrodites which means they can change their gender from female to male when necessary. 

Banana slugs are bright yellow slugs and can get up to 10 inches long. These worms are simultaneous hermaphrodites meaning they have both male and female reproductive organs. 

Some butterflies have gynandromorphism which means they show both male and female characteristics. 

Cardinals are beautiful red birds that also showcase gynandromorphism occasionally. This means they can show both traits, male and female. 

Bearded dragons show an interesting thing during incubation. If the temperature is too warm, the male bearded dragons in the egg change their gender to female. 

Hawkfish are also able to change their genders from male to female when the situation calls for it.
