Heavy rains have the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) filled to the brim. Downpour in and around Mandya, and strong currents in river Cauvery, have filed the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam to the brim. Section 144 is in effect for 20 km around the dam and mining in this region is also banned till September 4.

Maharashtra rains: 16-year-old washed away in flood; heavy downpour expected to continue
In Mumbai’s neighbouring Palghar district a 16-year-old boy was washed away by floods. Heavy rains led to water levels rising over tracks in some sections, resulting in the suspension of train services between Vasai and Virar towns, a Western Railway official said.

Mumbai rains: Waterlogging on tracks due to rain; flights cancelled
The water level on the tracks rose due to high tide in the Arabian sea coupled with rains in the afternoon, which caused water to flow backwards towards the Kurla, Sion and Chunabhati section, said Central Railway chief spokesperson Sunil Udasi.
