Indian Railways’ premier locomotive manufacturer Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) has unveiled the first batch of Tejas Express locos for push-pull operations

The newly launched Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express got delayed. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on 22 January said that it will pay a compensation of ₹100 each to around 630 passengers of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express because of the delay.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today flagged off the inaugural run of the second premium Tejas train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Services on this train, operated by IRCTC, will begin on January 19 from the city. IRCTC will pay a compensation of Rs100 in case the train during its run is delayed by more than one-hour and Rs 250 in case the train is delayed by more than two hours. The train has been running on time since launch, but it recorded a delay of more than two hours on October 19 due to late start from Lucknow in the morning. IRCTC received and approved claims of 158 passengers within a period of 3 days out of which compensation has already been paid to 74 passengers

Lucknow Delhi Tejas express India’s first-ever private train. has made a profit of Rs 70 lakh since its operation till October through tickets sale. The Tejas Express has generated a remarkable revenue as much as Rs 3.7 crore through sale of tickets alone till October, while the expenditure incurred by the IRCTC to run the train was around Rs 3 crore.

The train is currently parked at the Anand Nagar railway station in Uttar Pradesh and will be handed over to private players after an open bidding process for operationalisation.
