Kerala’s coastal security ADGP Tomin J Thachankary issued the alert regarding the intrusion of IS operatives based on intelligence inputs. Coastal police station and intelligence wing heads have been asked to strengthen coastal beat and boat patrol. 

According to sources, intelligence input suggested that those behind the deadly attack might attempt to escape from Sri Lanka and try to enter India via sea route. Preventing any attempts by terrorists to escape in India, ships and maritime surveillance aircraft Dornier have been deployed on the maritime border with Sri Lanka.

Lanba said, “We also have reports of terrorists being trained to carry out attacks with varying modus operandi including through the medium of the sea. India has been facing the threat of terror through the seas.”
