The Central Government has notified the structure of the National Startup Advisory Council to advise the Government on measures needed to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups in the country to drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities.

No imports will be allowed without HSN (Harmonised System of Nomenclature) code into the country said the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways, Piyush Goyal in New Delhi. HSN is an internationally standardized system of names and numbers to classify traded products.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today flagged off the inaugural run of the second premium Tejas train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Indian Railways in a bid to improve the overall security of the passengers travelling in the trains has decided to install smart cameras in its premises. In order to enhance security at Railway stations which are major hubs of transportation on 8th January announced that Indian Railways is in the process of installing Internet Protocol (IP) based Video Surveillance System (VSS) at stations, that is, waiting halls, reservation counters, parking areas, main entrance/ exit, platforms, foot over bridges, booking offices, etc.

The Agri Export Policy was announced last year with the objective of doubling the export and ensuring the doubling of farmers’ income. In order to achieve this objective, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has been adopting a focused approach for ensuring greater involvement of the State governments for effective implementation of the Agri Export Policy (AEP).

Commerce and Industry & Railways Minister Piyush Goyal today inaugurated the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Knowledge Hub in New Delhi, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered learning ecosystem that will assist the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector. Speaking on this occasion Commerce & Industry Minister said that although India has developed as the second-largest fintech hub in the world, a lot of work still needs to be done in the BFSI sector.

 

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved a transformational organisational restructuring of the Indian Railways. This historic reform will go a long way in achieving Government’s vision of making Indian Railways the growth engine of India's vikas yatra.

In order to facilitate the travel of youth participants of “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” program, Indian Railways has decided to grant 50% concession in basic fares of Second/Sleeper Class to youths with earnings/emoluments of not more than Rs.5000/- per month for travelling from one State to another State to take part in ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme. This concession has been granted as a special case and it is admissible only in the normal train services and not for booking of Special Trains/Coaches.

Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce and Industry and Railways addressed the inaugural session at the Exports Summit 2019 organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi on 17th December. He emphasized that the Indian industry must be enabled and empowered to take advantage of global value chains. He further noted that it is important for Government and industry to work together to make the industry more competitive and more proactive. Government is working to bring more predictability to export finance, exports scheme, and productivity.

With the goal of reducing the cost of electricity for traction, Indian Railways has commenced flow of additional 50 MW power (Total 100 MW) from Bhartiya Rail Bijli Company Limited (BRBCL) in the State of Bihar with effect from 28 November 2019, which is expected to lead to an annual saving of Rs. 110 Crores per annum on a recurring basis. The additional flow of 10 MW power from BRBCL has also been started in the State of Rajasthan with effect from 20 November 2019 which is expected to lead to an annual saving of Rs. 11.50 Crores per annum.

IRCTC will pay a compensation of Rs100 in case the train during its run is delayed by more than one-hour and Rs 250 in case the train is delayed by more than two hours. The train has been running on time since launch, but it recorded a delay of more than two hours on October 19 due to late start from Lucknow in the morning. IRCTC received and approved claims of 158 passengers within a period of 3 days out of which compensation has already been paid to 74 passengers

Every winter, due to fog, flights and train services are delayed across the country. Just like flights now even Indian railways will be alerting passengers when their trains will be running late. Now the problem of passengers waiting at the railway station for hours will be resolved. Indian Railways has announced that the passengers will get real-time updates of the train.
