China has raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. India has naturally reacted to it strongly. 

In the videoconference that was held on Sunday to deal with the Coronavirus menace, in which SAARC members participated, Pakistan called for immediate lifting of the "lockdown" in the valley to allow disease containment measures. 

 

Hello and welcome to this episode of The Handshake, my name is Amal Chowdhury and today we will be talking about another batch of foreign delegates visiting Jammu and Kashmir. The second batch of foreign envoys will visit Jammu and Kashmir today. The visit comes a month after a delegation of ambassadors visited the Union Territory last month. The diplomats belonging to the European Union including Germany, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria and Hungary will be in Srinagar for a day on Wednesday and in Jammu on Thursday.

The way China is treating its Uighur Muslims has gathered several criticisms from across the world. However, Pakistan Prime Minister has chosen to remain tight-lipped over this issue only because China is its "good friend". However, he makes no qualms about calling himself an ambassador of Kashmiri people.

After China once again pitched for a discussion on Kashmir at the United Nations Security Council, India on Thursday said that Beijing should draw “proper lessons” and “refrain” from repeating this step in the future.

China and Pakistan failed to rake up the Kashmir issue at the UN. South block officials that MyNation spoke with said that China was left isolated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi iterated that policies on Kashmir will only be made by Indians, without Pakistan’s interference. The Prime Minister also blamed the Congress party for worsening the Kashmir issue all throughout its rule at the Centre.
 

On Tuesday some protesters shouted slogans against India. From Srinagar, they were marching towards the busy business area of Lal Chowk and that is when the police caught and detained them.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh took a dig at the Congress for its meeting with UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn while questioning it over its stance on Kashmir. Highlighting the work of Prime Minister Modi, Singh said the perception of the world about India is changing.

India has not only resisted international scrutiny around the Kashmir move but, in fact, gone on the offensive, mobilising its public relations apparatus. From historically being a cautious power, the “New India” image it is now promulgating signals that India is now looking to take on a larger global mandate.

Currently, elections in Maharashtra are the talking point in the Country. Every party is working hard and trying to get an upper hand in the state. The same goes with the news channels and websites, they are also covering it on a big scale. So, on August 5th Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Maharashtra's Jalgaon dared the opposition to bring back Article 370. He openly challenged the other parties to make this agenda a part of their manifesto.
