At 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Neeraj became the first Indian to clinch a gold medal in javelin throw at the Commonwealth Games. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he made history by winning a gold medal with a javelin throw of 87.58 metres.
