How Modi Government Made India Open Defecation Free
Swachh Bharat Mission has brought in a remarkable transformation and traceable benefits to the society as a whole. It is one of the largest cleanliness drives in the world.
Over 10 crore household toilets have been built across India since the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission.
Since October 2014, Over 6 lakh villages, 700 districts, 36 union territories or free states have been declared open defecation free.

PM Modi declares India open defecation free on Gandhi Jayanti
On Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared India open defecation free. He said that 99 percent of rural villages in India have declared themselves open defecation free and that 11 crore toilets were built for 60 crore people within 60 months.
