Paceman Mohammed Shami took two wickets as India dominated the opening day of the first Test against England at Edgbaston on Wednesday (1 August). In the press conference after day’s play, Shami said that the key to success against England is to maintain a consistent line and length and not to give them width. He also said that the Indian bowlers must believe in each other and work as a unit. England ended Day 1 at 285/9. R Ashwin was India’s most successful bowler with four wickets.
