Bengaluru: You might all be aware of how Congress jumped into the fray during the migrant imbroglio and tried to earn some brownie points by offering to pay for the travel of these helpless souls.

But in reality, things seem to be diametrically opposite! If BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya is anything to go by, Congress-ruled states and TMC have asked for the least number of trains to get their people back home.

Taking to Twitter the BJP leader said: "Despite all the noise, Congress and TMC ruled states aren’t getting their migrants back! Where is Sonia Gandhi’s love for migrants?

As per a protocol, the originating states and the destination states must approve the running of Shramik trains.

Amit Malviya added, “Running a train requires approval of originating and terminating States. While almost all originating States are willing to give approval, Congress and TMC ruled destinations like WB, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, are holding back approvals, thus causing worker distress.”

In fact, earlier, even Piyush Goyal, the railways minster had lamented the attitude of several states in the migrant issue.

He said, “It pains me that several states such as West Bengal, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand are not giving enough permission for ‘shramik special’ trains to enter their states. West Bengal first gave permission for only two trains, but after Union home minister Amit Shah wrote to state Chief Minister then announcement was made that eight more trains will be allowed. But until today (May 14) afternoon, only 5 out of those 8 trains were allowed by the WB government.”

And in spite of the recalcitrant and hostile attitude shown by these states, the railways has succeeded in ferrying 11.5 lakh stranded migrants across the country.

It has also run more than a 1000 Shramik trains to help migrnants realise their dream of going back home.
