Karnataka coalition collapse: Will MLA Zameer work as Yeddyurappa’s watchman now?

Bengaluru: There is hushed silence among Congress and JD(S) MLAs after the fall of the government. Yeddyurappa is all set to become the chief minister of the state. Seems like all is concluded in the Karnataka coalition crisis. However, there is an MLA who had promised to work as a watchman if Yeddyurappa became the chief minister. Question is, is he a man of his word?

The MLA who had made this grand promise is Zameer Ahmed Khan, who was previously the minorities department minister in the recently disbanded HD Kumaraswamy Cabinet. The Congressman Zameer Ahmed Khan was up in arms against BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa when the coalition government was not formed yet and it was touted the Yeddyurappa will prove majority and become the chief minister.

Reacting to the same, Zameer Ahmed stated that if the BJP form government before May 25 (in 2018), he will quit politics. Not stopping at this Khan even said that if Yeddyurappa becomes the chief minister, he will dress up as a watchman and watch over Yeddyurappa's house for a day.

This led to a lot of criticism as Zameer is known for making such statements. Earlier, he had said that if JD(S) candidate wins against him in Chamarajpet (in the Assembly election 2018), he will behead himself in front of the media.

However, he won the election and did not have to resort to such a drastic step.

But his 'watchman' promise still remains unkept as BJP in the leadership of Yeddyurappa has the majority and is awaiting orders from Delhi to form the government again, becoming the chief minister.

Thus, if Yeddyurappa becomes the CM, will Zameer Ahmed Khan keep up his promise and work as a guard in Yeddyurappa's house for a day?
