Kolkata: Clashes reportedly broke out during BJP president Amit Shah’s roadshow in Kolkata that was being used as a show of strength.

Reports suggest the police used batons to disperse the crowd after sticks were allegedly thrown at the truck that had Shah in it.

In a separate video, BJP's candidate from north-west Delhi at the ongoing general election, Hans Raj Hans, who is also in Kolkata for campaigning, alleged that he had to run to save himself during the clashes.

Prior to the roadshow, all political cutouts and bill boards belonging to the BJP were taken down forcibly. According to reports, after Shah left, the clashes turned violent in and around the Calcutta University. Trouble started after the Trinamool-backed student union leaders tried to wave black flag at Shah. The Trinamool and BJP blamed each other for the violence.
