Politically Fit with Shehzad Poonawalla: It’s Rahul vs Priyanka

Apr 4, 2019, 2:07 PM IST

In this episode of Politically Fit, Congress rebel Shehzad Poonawalla finds some kind of a rivalry brewing between the siblings Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra, a general secretary of the party, and her brother, Rahul Gandhi, the president of the organisation. Poonawalla deals with the political issue while explaining how to do exercises for back muscles.

Congress rebel Shehzad Poonawalla cites examples of other political families like MK Stalin and MK Alagiri of the DMK, Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray of the Shiv Sena to explain that the strange situation the Congress faces today is not out of the ordinary.

Priyanka has repeatedly given hints of her higher ambitions, for example, expressing her wish to fight from Varanasi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and also said she was willing to contest if the party said so, but Rahul has chosen to ignore the message from his sister, Poonawalla says. The performance of the Congress president since his debut in 2004, the rebel says, leaves a lot to be desired. But, Poonawalla adds, unfortunately for Priyanka, she has never been the favourite child of mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
