Traffic violation fines: Will engineers be fined for bad roads next?

Synopsis

Traffic fines have sent shockwaves among motorists. While it is not wrong to expect people to follow traffic rules, the system allows engineers who lay and dig roads to escape its clutches

Bengaluru: Traffic fines is the most talked about issue right now in India. From bikers to truck drivers, traffic fines have sent shockwaves across the country. When people are expected to follow all the rules, shouldn't the departments of the government also be responsible in providing proper infrastructure to aid people in following the rules?

While there are rumours of the possibility that motorists wearing slippers will be fined, there is also debate on how to follow traffic rules in a road that is full of potholes. If a motorist can be slapped with a fine, why not the engineer who laid the road with substandard material that cannot even stand one rainy season.
