QR codes and Barcodes

QR codes and barcodes may appear to be very similar but they serve different purposes. Some people may look at them as same black and white codes, but the differences are significant. We will explain the differences between these two codes for your better understanding of technology.

QR codes

The concept of QR codes was first developed by Masahiro Haro in the year 1994. He is a renowned engineer from Japan. The full form of QR code is Quick Response Code. This square-shaped code is recognized as an advanced version of the barcode. QR codes have the capacity of storing a large amount of information. As the digitalization is on the surge in India, you get to see hundreds of these codes around you. These are prominently used for transaction purposes. Moreover, QR codes are also used to access web links.

Barcode

Barcode was first invented in the year 1974 by US-based developers Norman Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver. As compared to QR codes, it has a lower capacity for storing information and are composed of vertical lines that store information.
