If you’re planning a long trip this summer and will be travelling by air for the first time, it is important to learn about some safety regulations before heading to the airport. There are certain gadgets that cannot be carried in the cabin luggage. Keeping these guidelines in mind will help your check-in and security screening processes at the airport.

Power banks and batteries

Electronic items such as power banks, batteries or battery-powered devices cannot be put in your checked luggage. Airlines request flyers to pack these items in small bags i.e., carry-on luggage. Regardless of the power bank’s capacity, 20000 mAh or lower, it is not permitted to bring it onboard the aircraft.

Laptops

During the screening process, flyers are required to place laptops and smartphones in a tray along with their charging cables for screening. You can pack laptops in both checked and carry-on bags, just make sure that they are padded to prevent any damage. Please note that chargers can only be carried in cabin luggage.

Smartwatch

If you’re wearing a smartwatch, it can be carried in your carry-on bag but must be placed in a tray for security screening. Other electronic gadgets and items like headphones, speakers, earphones, are required to be placed in trays.

Electric shavers

You can carry electric shavers with you in both checked and carry-on luggage. However, razors with blades must only be packed in your check-in luggage. It’s important to note that there may be specific rules at the airport regarding the size or quantity of razor blades.

Electric cigarettes

Carrying electric cigarettes on domestic flights in India is banned. If you are found carrying them, they may be confiscated, and legal action could be taken against you. Other gadgets and equipment like professional cameras and tripods may undergo inspection during screening process. You can keep them in carry-on bags for a smoother process.
