World Junior Wrestling Championships 2018: Haryana continues hegemony with 10 grapplers selected to represent nation

Synopsis

Ten wrestlers from Haryana have been selected for the World Junior Wrestling Championship. Among the selected wrestlers, Junior Asian Championships gold medallist Sajan is a strong contender

Haryana has been doing immensely well at the Asian Games, with its athletes clinching medals at various sporting events. Ten wrestlers from the state have been selected for the World Junior Wrestling Championship. 

The event will be held in Slovakia from September 17-26. The selection trials for the competition were held at Saiyan Centre, Bahalgarh, in which about 50 wrestlers took part. Among the selected wrestlers, Junior Asian Championships gold medallist Sajan is a strong contender. 

The 10 selected wrestlers are:

Freestyle

57 kg – Naveen
70 kg – Vishal
86 kg – Deepak Punia
97 kg – Amit Saroha
125 kg – Mohit

Greco-Roman

130 kg – Deepak Punia
87 kg – Sunil
77 kg – Sajan
72 kg – Kuldeep Malik
55 kg – Vijay
