Be it in domestic cricket or international stage, umpires are always under the spotlight. Now, with the availability of Decision Review System (DRS), players get to challenge umpires on the field. However, it was not the case on the opening day of the Delhi-Himachal Pradesh game.

There is no DRS in Ranji Trophy and Gambhir was erroneously given out by the umpire and the left-handed opener was upset with the decision.

The 37-year-old Gambhir, tried to play the ball on the leg-side, and was given out for 44, caught by Priyanshu Khanduri off left-arm spinner Mayank Dagar at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.

Khanduri, who was stationed at forward short-leg, caught the ball as it popped up. Gambhir showed disgust once he was given out and tried to suggest that the ball did not come off the bat or glove but off his pads. As he walked back, he uttered few words, clearly upset with the umpire’s decision.

Gambhir opened the batting with Hiten Dalan as Delhi won the toss and chose to bat. Delhi ended the day at 305/8 in 89 overs.

Recently, Gambhir had slammed the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for allowing tainted cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin to ring the bell at the Eden Gardens during the 1st T20I against the Windies and also raised questions on BCCI’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

India may have won today at Eden but I am sorry , CoA &CAB lost. Looks like the No Tolerance Policy against Corrupt takes a leave on Sundays! I know he was allowed to contest HCA polls but then this is shocking....The bell is ringing, hope the powers that be are listening. pic.twitter.com/0HKbp2Bs9r
