Indian cricketer Sanju Samson marries long-time girlfriend

Indian cricketer Sanju Samson tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Charulatha on Saturday. Sanju had made his five-year-long relationship public on Facebook a few months ago.
 

Thiruvananthapuram: Sanju Samson, the wicket-keeper batsman from Kerala tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Charulatha on Saturday. Charulatha was Indian cricketer Sanju’s classmate at Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. They were in a relationship for the last five years. Charulatha is currently pursuing her post-graduation. 

Close friends and relatives took part in the marriage function at a private hotel at Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram. The wedding reception was arranged for close friends and Sanju's teammates at Girideepam Convention Centre, Nalanchira in Thiruvananthapuram on December 22.

Sanju is the second child of former Delhi Police footballer Vishwanath Samson and Lijy. Charulatha is the daughter of Mathrubhumi chief news editor B Ramesh Kumar and Rajasri.

Earlier, the 23-year-old wicket-keeper batsman from Kerala announced his marriage with Charulatha amidst the happiness of being selected for the ODI series against Australia and South Africa.

Posting a photo of Sanju along with his fiancée, Charulatha, he captioned: "11:11pm on 22nd August 2013 was when I sent a 'Hi' to her. From that day till now, almost five years I have waited to put a picture with her and tell the world that I am in love with this special girl.

"We spent time together but couldn't walk together publicly. But from today we can. Thanks a lot, to our parents for agreeing to this happily."

Meanwhile, Star Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap tied the knots in a simple ceremony on December 14, Friday. The wedding took place at Saina's residence in Orion villas at Raidurgam in Hyderabad. It was a small gathering of about 40 guests, including relatives of Saina and Kashyap's families.
