Amid the joyous moments of third Test victory at Trent Bridge, India captain Virat Kohli did not forget Kerala which has been hit with worst floods in the State in a century.

The Indian skipper, after the team had comprehensively beaten England by 203 runs in Nottingham, dedicated the success to the victims of the Kerala floods.

“First and foremost we as a team want to dedicate this victory to the flood victims in Kerala. People are going through a lot. This is our bit we can do,” Kohli, who was adjudged the Man-of-the-match, said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), through its Twitter account, also announced the same.

“#TeamIndia Skipper @imVkohli on behalf of the entire team dedicates the Trent Bridge victory to Kerala flood victims,” BCCI tweeted to its eight million-plus followers on Wednesday.

The Indian Armed Forces and several other agencies have tirelessly been working round the clock to rescue people and provide relief materials in Kerala. Over 350 lives have been lost and thousands have been displaced and taken shelter in relief camps.

Now, the situation in Kerala is slowly getting better with the waters ebbing away and the Armed Forces have reduced their personnel involved in relief work.

Earlier, Kohli had thanked the Army and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for their efforts. He had tweeted, "Everyone in Kerala, please be safe and stay indoors as much as you can. Hope the situation recovers soon. Also, thanking the Indian army and NDRF for their incredible support in this critical condition. Stay strong and stay safe.”
