India vs England 2018: Jasprit Bumrah may not play in the second Test at Lord's

Synopsis

Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to play in the second Test of the series against England

Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah, who has been missing from the Indian side owing to a thumb injury, is unlikely to play in the second Test of the series against England. Jasprit was ruled out ahead of the first T20i against England and missed the limited over series as well as the first Test.

Cricketnext reported that although the selectors had named him in the three Tests, believing him to be fit before the second Test, he might not be his 100% ahead of the Lord's Test to be held on August 9.

Jasprit, however, continues to practice at the nets to get in better shape.

BCCI had made a statement earlier saying, “Jasprit Bumrah who has been included in the squad, will be available for selection from the 2nd Test onwards based on his fitness.”

Jasprit had to undergo a surgery in the UK after he was injured during the first T20I against Ireland.

Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami are spearheading India's pace attack and are doing a considerable job. Ishant had also picked up five wickets for India in the Edgbaston Test.

Virat Kohli may make changes in the team considering the fact that although the bowlers had placed India in a comfortable position, the batsmen could not see the team through.

Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya may have to sit out giving way to KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara into the team.
