Synopsis

Sydney: India are set to end a 71-year wait as they have moved closer to a historic Test series triumph in Australia. Virat Kohli and Co have maintained a stranglehold over the fourth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Since their first visit Down Under in 1947-48, India have never won a Test rubber. Now, it is set to change in two days’ time.

Apart from the first-ever series triumph, Indian players have set several records during the four-match rubber for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Cheteshwar Pujara has been the rock of Indian batting, having batted for a record number of 1,258 balls and scoring three centuries.

Young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant too made a name for himself by breaking MS Dhoni’s records.

Indian bowlers too have dominated, never letting the Australian batsmen register a century so far in the series.
