On India's 72nd Independence Day, several sports stars wished the people of India a very Happy Independence Day. Cricketers and other athletes, who have always been a source of inspiration for the masses and been their role models, took to social media to wish the country.

Star veteran player Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter and tweeted, “Everything in life is hard-earned. Just like our independence. Among countless other things, there would have been no ‘Team India’ if not for the sacrifice of our brave freedom fighters. Let us not take that freedom for granted.
#HappyIndependenceDay."

Along with him, other players like Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman, Hardik Pandya and Mohammad Shami also send out Independence day messages. VVS Laxman tweeted, "I bow down to all those who laid down their lives so that we can celebrate this day. Happy #IndependenceDayIndia⁠ ". 

Athletes from the upcoming Asian Games squad also took time out from their training schedules and wished the nation a joyous 72nd Independence Day. Heena Sidhu tweeted, "Our feedom and independence came with struggle, with toil and hard work we made our country. We are our country and our country is us. Happy Independence day to all!!" 

Star badminton player Saina Nehwal also took to Twitter to convey her best wishes.
