Babita Phogat, who bagged a gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games 2014, said that Vinesh was like a lioness in the ring during the wrestling match. She said that she expected that Vinesh would win a medal in the Rio Olympics as well, but since she suffered an injury, she could not compete against her Chinese opponent.
When Vinesh got a chance to compete in the Asian Games, she made India proud by clinching a gold in women's 50 kg freestyle category. With this win, Vinesh became the first woman to win a gold medal in wrestling for India at the Asian Games.
