Indian forces repel attack in late-night operation in Kashmir, 2 terrorists captured

Srinagar/New Delhi: A terror attack was foiled by the security forces in the Gool area of Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district on Monday. Two terrorists were arrested. 

According to sources, both the terrorists were heavily-armed and were arrested following an operation that began on Sunday night. A joint operation was launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army after the forces received intelligence inputs about the terrorists' presence.

Shoukat Ahmad of Awantipora and Taufeeq Ahmad of Kulgam were arrested around 3.30am, a security official said. The terrorists are being interrogated. Their affiliations are yet to be known.

Terrorists in the Kashmir Valley have been looking for every opportunity to incite violence. Three months ago, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) suicide bomber carried out an attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama in which over 40 jawans were killed. Following the attack, the security forces upped the ante in the war against terror. So far 75 terrorists, including 31 JeM members, have been killed this year.
